The Sanderling is our chapter mascot, and a favorite shorebird on sandy beaches during winter months in Monterey Bay. Watch the flock as it closely follows the the waves in and out, foraging at lightning speed for their favorite meal - sand crabs (Emerita analoga).

supporting DONATIONS

Monterey Audubon is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible charity and we rely almost entirely on membership dues and additional donations. Contributions help fund eco-scholarship awards, conservation projects, public education, advocacy, and much more.

Some Monterey Audubon Society donors prefer to make gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or exchange traded funds. Why Donate Appreciated Assets? There are two key factors that many donors consider when making a gift of appreciated assets: impact on our mission and potential tax benefits.

   - Impact on our Mission: Many of our most committed donors find they're able to give more generously when they donate appreciated assets than if they'd simply given cash. That generosity means we’re able to achieve more and advance our mission faster.

   - Potential Tax Benefits: If you are itemizing deductions on your tax return, you may be eligible for a charitable deduction of the full value of your gift. Whether or not you are itemizing deductions, though, donating an appreciated asset can help you avoid paying tax on capital gains.

Always discuss donations with a tax consultant to maximize your benefits. If you would like to receive stock transfer instructions, please contact MAS at montereyaudubon@gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration!

donations are essential to keep our work going

Since 1940, members of Monterey Audubon Society have been celebrating the diversity and ecological importance of birds and wildlife on California’s central coast. 100% of all donations go to our mission-driven organization. Please help us continue our important work by donating to our organization. Thank you for your support!
